Mini Trees Collection knitting patterns by Lavender Hill Knits

Love to knit socks? Then you’ll love knitting these fun tree cozies!  They are a perfect take-along project.  Since they only require a small amount of yarn, they are also perfect for using up the leftover sock yarn you have in your stash.  Pop them into unexpected places in your house for a little Christmas cheer, or make a whole forest to decorate your dining table.  But why only Christmas?  They are great for any holiday, anytime of year.  Have fun creating!

Tree cozies are knit in the round so there are no seams, and pop over styrofoam cones.

Advanced beginner/intermediate - this project is knit in the round using four double-point needles

Finished Size:

7 ¼” high, 3 ½” diameter at bottom

Yarn and needles needed:

Yarn used for trees shown is Kroy Socks yarn by Patons one ball each in colors “Red” and “Muslin” (166 yds each). One ball in each color will easily make four trees.

Sock or fingering weight yarn used in the following quantities:
Garland Tree Cozy:
MC: 50 yards 
CC: 20 yards 
Garland Too Cozy:
MC: 40 yards 
CC: 40 yards
Swirl Cozy:
MC: 45 yards
CC: 45 yards
MC=main color, CC=contrasting color
Size US 3 (3.25 mm) double point needles (4 needles)

Additional materials needed:
styrofoam cones sized 2.75” x 6” (6.9 cm x 15.2 cm). (The cones used were purchased at JoAnn Fabrics and are sold with 2 cones in each package).
Couple of cotton balls or small amount of polyester stuffing
Cable needle
Row counter
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle

Gauge:  

22 sts & 38 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch
