 Crazy Lace Lampshade Cover Knitting Pattern by Lavender Hill Knits

Knit these wonderful lampshade covers yourself! They are so much fun to knit, once you finish one you won't be able to stop, you'll want to make them for every lamp in your house! Pattern includes directions for two sizes (see below). The lace pattern is very simple, no chart to follow, just a simple repeat. Cozy up your room with a sweater for your lampshade:)

Covers are designed to fit the following lampshades:
Drum shaped lampshade - the measurement around the top and bottom of shade is the same or no more than a 6” difference. You can use the shades suggested below, or use one that you have. Pattern includes instructions on adjusting the pattern to fit a different sized shade, but it must be a drum shaped shade!!

Small shade (example shown on left in last photo) can be purchased at Lowes stores, Amazon, Walmart or Target.  Be sure to find one that has the following measurements:  26” top circumference (8" diameter), 32” bottom circumference (10" diameter), 7” high.
Medium shade (example shown on right in last photo) should have the following measurements: 35” top circumference (11" diameter), 41” bottom circumference (13" diameter), 9” high.

Knitting stitches used:  knitting in the round, cast-on, bind-off, knit, purl.


Materials needed:
Bulky weight yarn that allows you to get the specified gauge:
150 yards for small shade cozy
200 yards for medium shade cozy
Size US 10.5 (6.5mm) 16” circular knitting needles for small cozy, 24” circular knitting needles for medium cozy
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle for weaving in yarn ends

Finished size: covers fit lampshades as noted above.  Size can be adjusted for other lampshade sizes, instructions are included in pattern directions.

Gauge:  9 sts and 16 rows of the stitch pattern should measure 3” x 3” slightly stretched.  Instructions for working a gauge swatch are given in pattern.
