Front Porch Fern Leaf Lace Scarf Knitting Pattern
Front Porch Fern Leaf Lace Scarf Knitting Pattern
Front Porch Fern Leaf Lace Scarf Knitting Pattern from the ~Sweet Tea Scarf Pattern Collection~ by Lavender Hill Knits
The Sweet Tea Scarf Collection includes patterns inspired by all the things I love about living in the South ~ grand front porches, lush trees and plants, summer rainstorms, misty spring mornings in the Smoky Mountains, rolling hills of fall color and sippin' sweet tea year-round. The scarves in this collection can be worn indoors or out and are equally at home with a t-shirt and jeans as a skirt or dress. They can be made using light wool sock yarn or try using fingering weight cotton.
So gather your yarn and needles, a tall glass of sweet tea and settle into a comfy rocker on the porch...happy knitting!
The Front Porch Fern Lace Scarf was inspired by the relaxed lifestyle of the South. Sitting on a grand front porch, dotted with lacy ferns that gently move in the breeze under a large ceiling fan. It knits up quickly and is a great take-along project to work on while watching the kids at soccer or baseball. Or when you are waiting at the doctors office or when traveling.

Skill level:
beginner/advanced beginner - requires basic knowledge of knitting
There are no charts to read and the lace patterns are easy enough for a beginning knitter to work. I have also color coded the knitting instructions to make them super easy to follow.
Knitting stitches used:
knit stitch, purl stitch, cast-on, bind-off
Materials needed to make the scarf:
350 yards of sock yarn or fingering weight yarn
Size US 4 (3.5mm) straight knitting needles
Size US 4 (3.5mm) 29" or longer circular knitting needles
stitch markers (not necessary, but helpful)
Finished measurements blocked:
approx. 62" long, 7" wide
You can make this scarf as long or as wide as you like. You can make it wider to wear as a shawl, instructions are given in the pattern.
Gauge:
Using sock/fingering weight yarn, size US 4 needles and garter stitch: 6 sts per inch and 10 rows per inch before blocking.
Note on gauge: Gauge isn’t too important since this isn’t a garment. Sock weight yarn can vary quite a bit in thickness. If you find some yarn you really want to use, begin knitting the scarf and work a couple of repeats of the Fern Leaf Edging to check your gauge and to see if you like the yarn.
Once patterns are purchased, no refunds will be given.
