Christmas Colonial House - knitting pattern by Lavender Hill Knits
Pair this adorable knitted house with my Christmas Tree patterns to create a pretty winter wonderland display. The house fits over a clear box so a tealight can be inserted to create a pretty glow through the lace windows and yarn-overs around the front door. Just a small amount of time and fingering weight yarn is all that is required!
Skill Level:
Advanced beginner/Intermediate - this project is knit in the round using double-point needles, instructions are both written and charted
Materials needed:
Any fingering weight yarn in two colors can be used.
Approximate yardage requirements:
75 yards for house, 30 yards for roof.
Yarn used for houses shown is:
“Palette” by Knit Picks in colors: White and Wonderland Heather (Palette allows more light to show through the stitches.)
Stroll Heather Fingering by Knit Picks in color Down Heather and Stroll Fingering in color Ash.
Size US 2 (2.75 mm) double-point needles (5 needles)
Size D crochet hook
Clear plastic favor boxes – 3 x 3 x 3.5 inches – available at Hobby Lobby
Small battery operated tealight
A piece of cardboard 3” x 6 ½”
tapestry needle for weaving in yarn ends
stitch marker
Gauge:
6 sts and 10 rows/inch, using size US 2 (2.75mm) needles, fingering weight yarn and stockinette stitch.
